We're an independent gallery bookshop based in Machynlleth, mid Wales. It's our blend of bookshop, selling a carefully selected collection of reads and pick-up-and-flick-through books – and gallery space to inspire you while you're browsing. We host events too, book readings, author talks, photography and art openings.

Playing with Words, with Rrose Selavy (Mary Jacob).
You are invited to join a free workshop of participatory entertainment. Play Surrealist games using poetry in the beautiful and unique environment of the Museum of Modern Art in Machynlleth. We will use words from our own imaginations and other sources to combine them into verbal collages. The surrealists were inspired by Victorian parlour games, and our workshop activities build on this tradition to generate an easy form of collective improvisation. No experience is needed, just bring your sense of fun.

Mary Jacob is Californian relocated to Wales, pursuing a PhD in Creative Writing. She organises Surrealist Salons - evenings of participatory entertainment in which artists, musicians, poets, scientists and the general public play games, creating collaborative art and non-art. She has been writing since the age of 13 and her poems have been published in literary journals in the US and UK such as Ink Sweat and Tears, Uut Poetry, Wales Within, The Wait, Long Exposure and more. She organises the Words&Words&Words poetry series at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre and records podcast book reviews for New Welsh Review.
