POLISH UP YOUR POEMS - one to one with Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch

Samantha comes from a seafaring family from CeiNewydd/Newquay, west Wales. She read Classics at Cambridge before gaining an MA in Creative Writing from Cardiff University. In 2012 she was Leverhulme writer in residence at the National Wool Museum, recipient of a Hawthornden Fellowship and, in 2014 she held a residency at the Dylan Thomas Boathouse to mark the centenary of the poet's birth.

Samantha's poems have been published in Agenda, Granta, the Financial Times, the Independent, Magma, New Welsh Review, Planet, Poetry London and Poetry Wales. Samantha's newest work appears in the first issue of The Compass Magazine. In 2015 Samantha won an Arts Council Creative Wales Award to write the performance piece Tango in Stanzas..

Polish Up Your Poems with Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch on Tuesday 23rd May 12.30pm-5.30pm, £15.00 for 45 minute slot (please reserve through the bookshop).
Limited to 6 places

Samantha teaches on both the Oxford University Master of Studies in Creative Writing and at Trinity Saint David University. She has a practised and acute ear for what makes a poem 'right' and unique for its writer, we're delighted to welcome her back to Pen'rallt Bookshop for her popular 'Polish Up Your Poems'.

Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch’s lines are full of beauty, sometimes gorgeous, sometimes stark. But this is never decoration; it is a responsible beauty, implicating us in the essential human situations, life, death and survival, she explores.
