In a lifetime of of making photographs, each photographer will arrive at their own personal ‘ritual of intimacy’.
This exhibition, Collection 1: Rituals of Intimacy, presents a changing show of work by photographers and fine printers:
JOHN BLAKEMORE – PETER CATTRELL – PETE DAVIS – MARIAN DELYTH – ALED RHYS HUGHES
The photograph mirrors something in the experience of the photographer. The making of a photograph represents a ‘bringing to light’ through close attention and contemplation, often through exhaustive experimentation and often at the stage of making the negative. Working with traditional processes using light-sensitive film, the negative is the primary physical product these photographers each depend on. Only by this means can the anticipated photograph come into being.
Collection 1: Rituals of Intimacy helps to illuminate the essential, practical, physical and intellectual aspects of photographic practice. Fine prints by these five photographers also provide opportunities to look at the part played by the negative.
Rituals of Intimacy opens for a special evening reception, by invitation on 9 November 2018, If you would like an invitation to this evening reception go to: www.ffotogaleriygofeb.co.uk
